OUR MISSION
Goodwill Industries of Tulsa, Inc. provides work opportunities, job training and support services for people with disabilities or other employment barriers.

The Work Adjustment Instructor facilitates instruction of high school students with disabilities to transition from school to work. The instructor utilizes the designed curriculum to provide the skills necessary for a successful transition to competitive employment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Arrange pre/post assessments to determine educational progress and needs.

Establish clear objectives and outcomes for the Individualized Training Plan and communicate those objectives to students, parents or guardians, educators, and Department of Rehabilitation Services Counselors.

Instruct students in the knowledge of social interaction and sensory skills required in preparation for working in the community.

Prepare timely lesson objectives, outlines, and materials for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines.

Coordinate with staff members to plan and schedule lessons that promote learning, while following approved curricula.

Instruct students individually and in groups, using various instruction methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations providing students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.

Instruct and monitor students in safe usage and care of technology, equipment, and materials.

Maintain accurate and complete student records. Observe and assess students' performance, behavior, and social development.

Meet with parents or guardians, educators, Department of Rehabilitation Counselors, and Supported Employment Coordinator to discuss the student's progress and other issues or concerns.

Plan and supervise job shadowing opportunities in community businesses.

Select, order, store, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.

Work cooperatively with the Supported Employment department by referring students for job placement services.

Attend training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.

Follow, enforce, and provide training to ensure that all safety rules and regulations are followed. Completes and submits any necessary forms and/or reports immediately, but no longer than within 24 hours, when an incident occurs. Maintain current certifications in First Aid and CPR and administers First Aid and CPR if required.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Participate in Individual Education Plan and Individualized Training Plan meetings.

Maintains a secure environment by following the safety procedures of the organization.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

High school graduate, with the ability to pass required competency-based training. PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS: Climbing, balancing, talking, hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling,
fingering, seeing, and depth perception.

Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling: Medium Work - Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting
and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

SPECIAL CONTRACTUAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 21 years old.

Must have a valid Oklahoma driver's license, with a good driving record.

Must maintain appropriate requirements for legal vehicle operation, including current automobile insurance inspection, and license plate.

Must be eligible for a positive outcome on the required State of Oklahoma criminal conviction background check.

Must maintain compliance with Goodwill's Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy.

Goodwill considers this a safety-sensitive position because it includes tasks or duties that Goodwill reasonably believes could affect the safety and health of the employee or others.

Complete DRS Employment Consultant Training within the first year of employment; or be a certified special education teacher and have experience working with people with disabilities and knowledge of transition requirements under IDEA and the Pre-ETS of WIOA
